Jamie Winsted: Wisconsin Herd

Hide Details

Welcome Jamie Winsted.
I currently lead the Wisconsin Herd Public Relations and Community Relations department.

I work as the primary media contact while also writing press releases, post-game recaps, game notes, and coordinating all interview requests as well as the publisher of the Wisconsin Herd’s season media guide and team game day program. For the Community Relations department I work to connect the Herd with the community through donation requests, mascot & player appearances, and coordinating nonprofit involvement in theme nights through theme jerseys auctions, tabling, recognition, and pre-game programming. I helped create and launch successful Wisconsin Herd community outreach platforms including the annual “Run with the Herd 5K/1K” and the Wisconsin Herd Golf Outing fundraisers.

In October 2021, I started my career with the Wisconsin Herd as a PR/CR Intern before being promoted to full-time in my current position. Prior to the Herd, I filled many roles with experience in social media, broadcast tv and marketing.

During my time at UW-Milwaukee I was awarded the “Best Sports Story” by the Milwaukee Press Club. I played an instrumental role in helping the Wisconsin Herd win the NBA G League Franchise of the Year (2022-23), NBA G League President’s Choice Award (2021-22) and was an integral role in planning the Wisconsin Herd Black History Month Celebration which won NBA G League Promotion of the Year (2022-23).

Adam & Suz Borowitz: Hospice (no longer a 4-letter word)

Hide Details

What is Hospice Care?
Hospice care is a service for people with serious illnesses who choose not to get (or continue) treatment to cure or control their illness. People may choose to enroll in hospice care if the treatment is unlikely to be effective or if continuing it has become too burdensome. Hospice aims to provide comfort and peace to help improve quality of life for the person nearing death. It also helps family members cope with their loved one’s illness and can also provide support to the family after the person dies, including help with grieving, sometimes called bereavement care. Medicare reimburses for hospice services when a physician determines that a patient has a life-expectancy of 6 months or less.

Many people with a serious illness use hospice care. A serious illness may be defined as a disease or condition with a high risk of death or one that negatively affects a person’s quality of life or ability to perform daily tasks. It may cause symptoms or have treatments that affect daily life and lead to caregiver stress. Examples of serious illnesses include dementia, cancer, heart failure, and chronic obstructive lung disease.
