Growing the next generation of leaders through volunteer service
Southwest Rotary Projects
- Scholarships - Scholarships are provided each year to graduating senior students from any Oshkosh high school. Our focus on scholarship granting is to those students with demonstrated focus on volunteer community service.
- Partners at Learning - The Club partners with Roosevelt Elementary School in diverse activities such as funding of events at the school, mentoring programs, "Celebrity" reading programs, a Birthday Book program, Before School Interest Groups to give students an educational experience in the morning and a celebratory picnic and speaker at the end of the year.
- High School Rotary Interact Program - Student driven; these high-school based Interact clubs are organized just like Rotary clubs, with all avenues of service represented. Oshkosh Rotary Southwest works with the high school Interact program on projects such as the holiday parade, Bowling for Big Brothers, and projects that the students choose to support.
- Junior Rotary - This organization is driven by students and the needs that they are interested in pursuing. Students in the middle school create projects that we support, and they participate in events that our organization is involved with including; gift wrapping, holiday parties, and providing entertainment for younger students at those events.
- Rotaract Program - Young professionals in the Oshkosh community are who makes up the Rotaract clubs , which are organized just like Rotary clubs, with all avenues of service represented. Oshkosh Rotary Southwest is currently working to get this group more involved in volunteer programs that are initiated by Rotary Southwest, and also for the Rotaract members to put their name on projects in our community. Our slogan is Growing, Leading, Doing, and that is the goal for these young professionals.
- Back-to-School Fair - At the start of the school year each year, over 800 students from needy families in Oshkosh, are provided the necessities they need in order to be successful in school. Rotary Southwest provides basic needs for these students including, shampoo, soap, deodorant and toothpaste.
- Second-Chance Program - We provide dollars to support the breakfast programs for students enrolled in the Second Chance program, so they may start their day nourished, as to help them learn and make decisions that will positively impact their future opportunities.
